Where the Wild Things Are

“Where the Wild Things Are” hits the big screen on October 16th!

This was one of my favorite books growing up. Apparently the film has been jumping through hoops for a few years to finally get released… some of those hoops being negative reviews. Some kids were “crying and fleeing from the theater” one review said. Sounds pretty dark. I guess that’s what we should expect from a guy who produced “Being John Malkovich”.

I wonder if anyone will ever get “The BFG” up on the big screen. Or how about “The Giving Tree“?

What childrens book would YOU like to see in the movies?

{ update } it looks like The BFG did hit the big screen in 1989… thanks @sterbenz

  1. I LOVE THIS BOOK! Maurice Sendak is one of my fav authors. My kids would for me read this to them-especially Nick…I can’t wait for the movie to come out. This is def a must see.

  2. Yeah, I’m really looking forward to Where The Wild Things Are. I almost was going to abbreviate it to just “Wild Things” until I realized that is a different movie entirely. 😛

Giving Tree was always awesome. Not sure if it would make a good big-screen adaptation. I was always a fan of the Steven Kellog books too as a kid.

  3. I can’t remember “The Boxcar Children”. I don’t think I ever saw one of those books.

    Brad… you sinner.

I think that “The Giving Tree” could translate to the big screen. I’ve seen some crazier ideas up there.
